Happy Birthday & Happy anniversary!

There are lots of changes coming our way. Here are some recent ones.

Administrative staff

Pastor Lynn has been appointed by the Deacon Board to serve as Interim Administrator in addition to her duties as Children & Youth pastor. She has gathered an Admin team: Jeanne D as Admin Assistant, Joanne D & Judy as Bookkeeping team, Peggy P and Kate as Secretarial team. In the case of the bookkeeping and secretarial teams each member will learn all the duties of the position in case one member is gone. Jeanne is responsible for church inventories such as paper products for kitchen and bathrooms, batteries, office supplies etc-so if you see a need in one of these areas, PLEASE alert Jeanne. This Admin staff meets every Monday at 10:00 am.

Deacon Board

Mike Burt, and Tom Wood have resigned from the Deacon Board. Del Fischer has been appointed Chair of the Deacon Board. The other deacons are Craig Littlefield, Jim Carroll and Dean Naylor. Gentlemen, if you feel the Lord’s prompting to serve on this board, please see Del. A strong deacon board is necessary for good leadership in our body.

Adult Sunday School

Pastor Tom will be moving on to his new assignment as Interim Pastor in Deer Lodge in Dec. Pastor Scott may be teaching the adult class during his remaining tenure. Kate will take over the adult Sunday School when she is home. Ella will be part of the tag team for this too, when she is home.

Here is a new “column” for the Noozletter-Notes from the TWD. The TWD is the Teeny Weeny Devotional (it measures 2 ¼ X 3 ¼ inches) found while the Sec was going through things in her mom’s house. The little book, the Daily Monitor belonged to Great, Great Aunt Lily Dyer, and was inscribed to her by a friend. The book is from the late 19th century, and each page has two days worth of entries. There are two bits of Scripture sandwiching a bit of poetry. The Scripture verses are obviously from the King James. Yes, the print is minuscule.

Notes from the TWD…

For ye know the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes be became poor; that ye through his poverty might be rich. 2 Cor viii, 9

Servant of all, to toil for man,

   Thou didst not, Lord, refuse;

Thy majesty did not disdain

   To be employ’d for us!

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Rom vi, 12

Big red toolbox tool of the week:  a closed mouth. As we know, we are in the midst of change. Change is often accompanied by loose talk, none of which is part of any solution or part of a move forward in godliness. The Apostle Paul, as usual, had lots to say on this subject, as did Solomon in the Proverbs.

Proverbs is full of references to wisdom as related to a tongue under godly control-Proverbs 15 is especially full of these. Verse 4-The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Verse 7-The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.

Paul wrote to Timothy, his protégé, to advise him on this subject. 1Tim 6:20-“Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge…” and 2 Tim 2:16, “Avoid godless chatter…”

We all may have opinions, but few of us were involved in the meetings, conversations or actions that led to these changes so our opinions are probably not based on fact. The flapping of our tongues will probably not be edifying nor will it likely be part of the solution. As a dear friend sez, “Keep your eyes on the prize (Jesus) and your mouth closed.” A closed mouth gathers no foot…

Be careful of the words you say; keep them soft and sweet.

You never know from day to day which ones you’ll have to eat.

Bulletin and Noozletter will no longer publish the names and addresses of our family members who are traveling or who have flown south for a time. These documents go onto the website and we don’t want to advertise that people are away. Sec apologizes greatly for doing this in the past! Please check the bulletin board for this info.

Potluck Pleasures: Heavenly Food

This is another recipe invented by Jim Carroll…in the desperation of an empty larder and lack of desire to brave the -14 degree weather.

Desperation Chicken Sandwiches

1 12.5 oz can chicken, chunks broken into smaller pieces

¼ c chopped onion-more if you like onion

2 stalks celery, chopped

1 T you favorite oil based salad dressing(not one like ranch)

2 grinds black pepper

dash curry powder

1-1/2 T Mayonnaise

Your favorite bread, toasted-dark bread with grains is really good.

Saute onions, celery in the salad dressing, add spices. Add chicken chunks, & heat thru. Add mayonnaise & mix thoroughly. Spread on toasted bread. Makes two large sandwiches.

Have a peaceful and joy filled holiday, rejoice, rejoice, again I say rejoice in the birth of our redeemer!
